When will the calls be?

Once a group is filled, we’ll schedule a weekly call time that works for everyone.

What if I miss a call?

Recordings of the weekly calls are posted online in the private Group area. If you miss a call for any reason, you can listen in on the recording and then jump into the conversation on the Group Forum.

Will I have to count calories on the program?

No. But we will monitor your food intake during the first few weeks of the program, just to get a realistic grip on how much of what you are really eating, right now. It’s hard to make changes when we don’t know for sure where we’re starting from. I’ll walk you through this baseline intake, and then help you let go of specifics and enjoy food as a whole—in a whole new way—once again.

Will I lose weight on the program?

My Nourish Mentor is not a weight loss program. Instead, it goes beyond weight management or calorie counting to transform your relationship with food. That said, I’ve found in my own experience (read my story here) that the healthier my attitudes towards food, the healthier my body was too. I had dieted my entire adult life yet still carried “twenty too many.” It wasn’t until my entire relationship with food changed—through a combination of learning and experience like I’ve created here in My Nourish Mentor—and I was able to enjoy food fully (more than I ever had in my life!) that those twenty pounds fell away for good and have stayed off ever since.

What do you mean by “comfortable weight?”

I mean a weight where you’re healthy and you feel great in your own skin. I’m going to be honest here; odds are very, very good you’re not going to end up with a body like Angelina’s no matter what program you sign up for or which diet you try. What My Nourish Mentor will give you are the tools—physical, mental and emotional—to enjoy a healthier way of living and to feel great in your own body.

Are you a nutritionist or registered dietician?

No. And while I respect the knowledge of registered dieticians and call on them as resources for in-depth technical questions, I have deliberately chosen not to follow that path myself. Where many nutritionists and dieticians (but by no means all) tend to focus on the benefits or downfalls of particular nutrients in a food—or even the package of nutrients—I look at food from a broader, experiential context. For instance, I think it’s important to understand the basics of the different types of fat, but I also think it’s essential to ingest that information and then pull back up to 35,000 feet. Once that happens, we can enjoy kale sautéed in olive oil knowing it’s doing our bodies good rather than simply following nutritional guidelines and eating “fiber and folate” in “monounsaturated fats.” It’s the same information from a fundamentally different perspective.

Is the information in My Nourish Mentor science-based?

Yes. The information in My Nourish Mentor—and on Nourish Network—is based on solid nutrition science. However, you won’t find any latest and greatest super-foods in the program. The reason is because I firmly believe we’re over-inundated with “nutrition news” and no healthier for it. The information overload causes anxiety and confusion, but it doesn’t help us make wiser choices.

What I think we need—and what I’ve found works—is a grounding in simple foundational truths about sound nutrition, based on solid science. I’ve found that when we “digest” these facts they guide us, naturally, almost subconsciously, to make smart decisions. At that point it’s not me—or anyone else—telling you to do this or that because you should, it’s you choosing to because you want to. That’s what creates sustainable change and that’s what you’ll get with My Nourish Mentor.

Do I need to be a foodie or gourmet to sign up for My Nourish Mentor?

Absolutely not, if you mean devoting time to fancy dishes or elaborate preparations. My Nourish Mentor is about learning to enjoy simple, real food that’s healthy for our bodies and the planet. Enjoyable? Yes. Fancy or elite? No.
